हमारे समाज में आज महिलायें हर क्षेत्र में अपनी सफल उपस्थिति दर्ज करा चुकी हैं. पर फिर भी प्रोफेशनल जगत में उन्हें सेक्शुअल हैरसमेंट , जेंडर डिसक्रिमिनेशन ( लैंगिक भेदभाव ) इत्यादि जैसी गंभीर परेशानियों का सामना करना पड़ता है. प्रोफेशनल जगत के अलावा आज भी कई परिवारों में घरेलू हिंसा जैसे गंभीर अपराध हो रहे हैं . नौकरी करने के लिए सक्षम होने पर भी कई जगह ऐसी स्थितियां आती हैं जहाँ उनको नौकरी करने नहीं दी जाती या फिर घर की ज़िम्मेदारियों के नाम पर उनको घर में रहने के लिए मजबूर किया जाता है. एक महिला के लिए नौकरी और घर को संभालना एक अग्निपरीक्षा सी बन जाती है. हमारे समाज का महिलाओं के प्रति पक्षपाती व ढीला रवैया , न जाने कितनी ही महिलाओं के जीवन में तनाव उत्पन्न करता है जो 'डिप्रेशन ' का रुप ले लेता है और उन्हें व उनके जीवन को अंधकार की ओर ढकेल देता है . ऐसी स्थिति में क्या करें ? किस प्रकर खुशियों व स्वाभिमान से पूर्ण ज़िंदगी जिऎं ?..........यह एक जटिल एवं गंभीर प्रश्न है।
