One month digital program to celebrate International Environment Day| from Awareness to Accountability
A one month digital program has started on dated 05 May 2020 so as to generate awareness and encourage accountability for environmental protection under 10 years digital campaign 'Swapnil Saundarya Decade of Action for SDGs', launched on 27th of April 2020 by handicraft products manufacturing firm 'Swapnil Saundarya Label' to strengthen the Sustainable Development Goals (Global Goals).
While highlighting the program that will continue till June 05, 2020 i.e International Environment Day, Painter-Writer Rishabh Shukla said that we are all in deep grief because of the negative effects of Covid-19 pandemic. There are countless downsides to the world's getting walloped by the corona virus and being put under severe lockdown. But the whole nation is striving to combat this pandemic with solidarity and fearlessness.
But if we look at the positive aspects of lockdown to halt the spread of Covid-19, then the pollution level across the country has come down considerably. People are sharing pictures of clear blue sky on social media. Considering the positive impact of lockdown on the environment, it is just to say that if we start a new shift of life even after the lockdown with some strategic plans and a vision for a better environment then we will be able to continuously improve the condition of our environment even with small actions leading to a great impact. The current crisis has shown us that clear skies and breathable air can be achieved very fast if concrete action is taken to reduce burning of fossil fuels. We don't yet have a democratic demand for clean air. But the experience of blue skies and fresh air could be a trigger to create a democratic demand for clean air in India.Crises often trigger life changing reforms.
Fashion-jewelry designer Swapnil Shukla, while expressing her views on environmental protection, stated that there are three main laws related to pollution: The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981, The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution)Act 1974 and the Environment (Protection) Act 1986. strict enforcement and implementation of these acts is mandatory for a better tomorrow.
Brother-Sister duo Rishabh and Swapnil Shukla have appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement some of the fundamental points related to environmental protection through an open letter.
