Some Thoughts As We Enter the New Volume of Swapnil Saundarya ezine .......

Namaste All !

We are extremely proud to present Swapnil Saundarya Vlog  { A vlog (or video blog)}   is  a blog that contains video content.  )on  the completion of successful and glorious four years of Swapnil Saundarya  ezine  & We literally step over into the fifth year of our ezine. Once again, the start of a brand new volume has come upon us. As we enter into new possibilities, may we all be reminded that we have the ability to be, do, and have anything that we want; that there are no mistakes, only lessons; and that the love and happiness we seek is already within our grasp.

During previous volumes, we all grew some, laughed some (a LOT, I hope!), shed some tears, and came to some new realizations with Swapnil Saundarya . We reached some of our goals, gained some victories, and also came to more clearly define the things we want to have in the future. All in all, we have truly been blessed!

As we begin volume 5th of Swapnil Saundarya ezine, my prayer is that we continue to  grow and find the space within ourselves to know, beyond all doubt, that there is nothing more that we need to do in order to be complete. All we need is a willingness to allow ourselves to feel good and to be at peace in the present moment. All we need is gratitude for all that we have, and all that we have had the pleasure to be and to experience. That is the starting point from which all other things will flow into our existence.

Be a part of Swapnil Saundarya ezine and Make your Life just like your Dream World !

With love,

Rishabh

The young Pakistani Artist  making a  mark on the current art scene

“I love making art… It’s largely how I see myself. I’m an artist; therefore I have to make art.”

Art is an external expression of internal discoveries: thoughts, dreams, advocacies and emotions of artists. The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web.
It is natural for humans to make every attempt to escape the not-so-fond memories of the past and move forward. However, no matter how hard we try, some of them continue to bother us. Perhaps this is where art comes in handy. While most run from their history, artists embrace it. And in their work, you see a reflection of the entire society.  Pakistani Artist Shehzar Abro, is no different.

This young Pakistani Visual  artist  is making a proper mark on the current art scene. Shehzar Abro is the one who bring a myriad of visual culture influences to his fine art practice.

Born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, Shehzar Abro is currently based in Newcastle, Australia. His passion for art has been instilled in him through his genes, with his grandmother and uncle both gifted individuals, it was only natural that he would follow suit.

According to him, art has no rules and no limitations as it is purely the person’s imagination which should never be restricted. He believes in art as an innate desire to be passionate about a subject and not because one wants to fit into the artist world.

“You don’t become an artist by having a personal style or doing things that are not cliché. You become an artist by doing what you love.”

He curated his first show as the Gallery Manager at Movenpick Hotel Karachi at the age of 18. Since the, he has embarked on a curatorial and artistic journey, utilising social media as his primary platform to showcase his work.

Shehzar Abro  is an imaginative visual artist—his works are equal parts beautiful and repulsive—with a distinct aesthetic and a personality to match. Big, bold, and fun are three easy words to describe his work.

Shehzar Abro's work is a not just any piece of art, it’s not just beautiful and inspirational but there is a bold and confident aura in his work, as if every splash of paint is proud of where it belongs. Every painting speaks for itself and that’s the most enigmatically beautiful quaity in his work.

Shehzar willfully left A levels to achieve his goals by following a not-so- mainstream path.

“Dropping out of A levels has taught me one thing and that is, life does not go as planned. I dropped out with the intention of studying Animation in America, but that didn’t happen and I’m in Australia now. But after I had dropped out things have been uphill for me,” he said.

“With new artists getting discovered every year, you really need to understand that opportunities won’t just come your way so you need to avail them yourself. That means you need to let people know you’re out there by promoting yourself. I’ve seen that people find self-promotion as something negative, which it shouldn’t be because nobody wants success and recognition for your work as much as you do,” the artist added.

In addition to being a very talented artist , Shehzar blogs on art . He is an Art Blogger having a unique and impressive writing style. He also has a handle on social media, and his blog focuses on art philosophy, his own work and work in progress, the mindset of being a successful artist,  inspirational material, and a mish-mash of other topics.

On May 11, 2017 , Shehzar wrote about Self-promotion .

Self-promotion is not a dirty word.

I’ve said this before and I need to say it again. If you’re a fine artist, a musician, a model or anyone who wants to be recognised in her/his field, and you’re really good at it, please don’t just sit around and wait for your big break. Promote yourself with the passion and hardwork that you put into your art. And don’t let anyone tell you that self promotion isn’t the way to go because no one else wants recognition for you as badly as YOU do. If you don’t promote yourself, who else will? Honestly, factor out the ego issue. You don’t really deserve to have that ego if you haven’t done much with your life.

- Shehzar Abro

Some other highly inspiring blogs by Shehzar Abro :

Exposure – Is it worth it?

If only exposure was a currency. The artist would be the highest paid profession in the world. Admit it, you can’t live without us, but you aren’t willing to afford us either. Re-read that last sentence; “aren’t Willing to afford us”.

The unfortunate thing is that young artists are all in a rat race; the difference being that we’re running in a disillusioned direction where the finish line can only be crossed if you constantly tell yourself you don’t need the money as much as you need the publicity.

I received an email brief for what I thought was a commission. After thanking the prospective client for her email, I quoted my usual price. This person had the common courtesy to get back to me (many don’t find the time to reply) and she played the publicity card on me; something along the lines of “I don’t have a budget at all but I was hoping to give some young Pakistani artists exposure”.

She probably felt very noble. I mean this is what the average artist wants today – their art on publications, walls and wherever really. The average artist also wants to make a living of a very rare skill that is extremely undermined.

I don’t solely blame this noble email lady. I blame you, the artist, as well. Here’s a scenario: Two very beautiful models are contacted for a job. One of the models really needs this job because she needs to pay her bills or a student loan. The other model has a rich dad and well money isn’t really her priority, so she says she’d do it for free. I think we all know who’s getting picked. Privilege wins, doesn’t it?

If one artist starts doing it, you’re basically screwing up everyone’s chance of getting picked. Because hey, this one’s desperate enough to just get his name up on that wall so let’s pick him.

Creativity is not retained by everyone when they grow up. People go into Law and Business and Medicine and get a “real job”. That real job pays a minimum wage, below which it is illegal to work in many countries. You need to realise that you, a typical creative, do not even have a minimum wage.

I want to see a change in the way artists sell their work. You need to take a stand. If you can’t do it for everyone else, do it for yourself. In the end, you’re going to have a long list of places you’ve been collected, but only just enough rent for next week. Do it because you respect your profession.

If you’re reading this and you’re not an artist, just don’t contribute to the system. To us, our work is priceless. Yet we only put a price on it to make a living, and it’s hurtful when you think its worth nothing.

How to keep yourself motivated ::

A lot of pieces I work on are just for fun(like this one). If it’s not a commission, I’m probably doing it for myself and that’s how I’ve kept myself motivated to paint all this time. If there isn’t any freedom of choice in what you’re making, and you’re always worried about selling, you’ll begin losing you’re passion for art and obsess more over making money.
And while it’s great cashing in your talent for a living, let’s not forget why you started painting in the first place.

What Pablo said ::

“Everything you can imagine is real.” -Pablo

The beautiful thing about what Picasso said is  that it doesn’t only apply to what you create as an artist – it’s what you can do as a person. Maybe I wouldn’t have felt so strongly about this quote a couple of years ago, but a phenomenal 2 years of constant believing and taking opportunities(that were literally thrown at me) has made me think a little differently.
It’s all about spotting opportunities; because I promise you they’re there. You’re either not looking hard enough or maybe you’ve seen them and haven’t stepped out of your comfort zone to take them.

Shehzar's Story in his own words .....................

I was born and raised in Karachi, a city that accommodates 27 million people. My city produces a larger amount of artistic talent than most other cities in the world. The problem lies in the absence of walls and spaces for the artwork to be displayed.

In November 2016, I managed and inaugurated an art gallery in the heart of Karachi. The gallery was not-for-profit and focused on a show that would reach out to younger artists may not have even sold their first artwork! Everyone wants to accommodate the artists that sell. The real challenge is selling the artists that don’t. The result of this show was exactly how I wanted it to be; 13 media channels covered the event, half of the artworks were sold, the participating artists were ecstatic and big names such as foreign diplomats, established artists and businessmen came out to support these budding prodigies.

I founded the Lyceum Art Society in my A level school, in an effort to encourage to aspiring doctors, engineers, programmers and students who did not necessarily study art, to create anyway. The response was overwhelming and this year will be the third year in a row that the society is successfully running.

I started gaining popularity on social media about two years ago and now I am followed by 64,000 people on Facebook and Instagram. I try to use my social media influence to motivate a new lot of undiscovered artists.

I came to Australia in December 2016 and acquired a job in an art gallery. This was to expand my knowledge on the different art scenes of the world. I researched on all of Australia’s top artists and the gallery’s represented artists. It gave me an insight on dealings at a commercial art gallery. I assist in developing business for the gallery; assisting in developing its website and building artist profiles.

I recently unveiled a mural in the heart of Hunter St. Mall. The psychedelic pattern, merged with a portrait of Marcus Westbury and a street scape of old Hunter Street, was a tribute to the efforts of Renew Newcastle in the revitalization of the pedestrian mall.

As an individual artist, I practice, practice and practice to perfect my skill in portraiture and figurative art. I find beauty in my muses, Victorian architecture and felines. However, even with my inclination to paint the aforementioned subjects, even I am not sure what the next artwork will contain.
